Driving test procedure

Depending on the licence category, obtaining a driving licence requires theory and practical tests. Here is the process, step by step.

The theory test requires a state fee of AMD 3,000.
Documents

Citizens of the Republic of Armenia must present the following documents to take an exam:

Additional documents may be required depending on the licence category and the reason for applying:

A passport or identification card (ID card); persons performing compulsory fixed-term military service may present a military ID instead.

A receipt confirming payment of the state examination fee and, for the practical test, a receipt for the service fee. Category “D” and subcategory “D1” also require proof of successful completion of the driving course examinations. The examination authority retrieves medical-certification data automatically from the ARMED system; foreign citizens and stateless persons must provide the certificate on paper.

A driving licence (when taking a qualification examination to add a new category or subcategory, exchanging a driving licence, or obtaining an international driving licence), except where the person holds only a digital driving licence.
Exam language

Theoretical examinations are conducted in Armenian, Russian, English, Persian or Arabic.

Exam structure

The theory exam is a computer-based test consisting of 2 parts: a psychological test and a knowledge-assessment test.

Psychological test

The psychological test consists of 3 questions, each containing 2–5 answer options.

The candidate must answer all 3 questions correctly. Even a single mistake means they are not permitted to proceed to the next stage.
Knowledge-assessment test

The knowledge test consists of 20 questions, each with 2–5 answer options. The theory test is passed by answering at least 18 questions correctly. You have 30 minutes to answer the questions; when the time expires, the test ends automatically.
