Chapter XX. Carriage of Goods
160. The mass of the load and its distribution over the axles must not exceed the values established by the vehicle manufacturer for that vehicle.
161. Before moving off and while driving, the driver must check the condition, distribution and securing of the load to prevent it from falling or otherwise obstructing traffic.
162. If the cargo protrudes more than 1 m beyond the front or rear extremity of the vehicle, or more than 0.4 m beyond the outer edge of the side marker light at the sides, then during daylight hours the cargo must be marked with the “Oversized load” identification sign; and in darkness and under conditions of insufficient visibility—also by a white lamp or reflector at the front and a red lamp or reflector at the rear.
163. The movement of the following vehicles is governed by special rules established by the legislation of the Republic of Armenia:
vehicles used to carry heavy or dangerous loads or containers that have not been decontaminated;
vehicles operated as part of a road train with two or more trailers;
vehicles whose dimensions, or any one of them, with or without a load, exceed:
a. 2.55 m in width (2.6 m for vehicles with an insulated or refrigerated body),
b. 12 m in length, or 20 m with one trailer or semi-trailer,
c. 4 m in height, measured from the surface of the carriageway;
vehicles whose load projects more than 2 m beyond the rear extremity.
164. The transportation of cargo is prohibited if it:
restricts the driver's field of view;
interferes with control of the vehicle or reduces its stability;
covers the external lighting devices and retroreflectors, registration plates or identification signs, as well as makes hand signals difficult to see;
generates significant noise, raises dust or pollutes the road and the surrounding environment.
165. If the condition and arrangement of the cargo do not allow it to be transported in accordance with the requirements of the Rules, then the driver must correct the violations or discontinue the journey.
