Chapter IV. Use of Special Signals
26. While carrying out urgent official duties, drivers of vehicles displaying a blue flashing beacon may, provided that road safety is ensured, depart from the requirements of Sections II (except for traffic-controller signals), V–XVI, XIX and XXI of the Rules. To obtain priority over other road users, they must activate the blue flashing beacon and the special audible signal, which alternates between high and low tones and differs from ordinary vehicle horns. The drivers of such vehicles may exercise this priority only after ensuring that other road users are giving way. This right also applies to drivers whose vehicles are being escorted by vehicles displaying blue and red flashing beacons and using a special audible signal.
27. A red flashing beacon may also be activated on vehicles of the traffic police of the Police of the Republic of Armenia affiliated to the Government of the Republic of Armenia (hereinafter—the traffic police), the State Protection Service (SPS) of the Republic of Armenia, and the Military Vehicle Inspection Unit of the Military Police of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia.
28. When a vehicle displaying a blue flashing beacon and using a special audible signal approaches, drivers must give way to ensure its unobstructed passage.
29. When a vehicle displaying blue and red flashing beacons and using a special audible signal approaches, drivers must reduce speed and give way to ensure the unobstructed passage of that vehicle and the vehicles it is escorting.
30. When approaching a stationary vehicle displaying a blue beacon, or blue and red flashing beacons, drivers must reduce speed so that they can stop immediately if necessary.
31. When approaching a stationary vehicle displaying a red flashing beacon, drivers travelling in that direction must stop and may proceed only after receiving permission.
32. Yellow or orange flashing beacons do not confer priority; they serve to warn other road users of a danger.
33. Yellow or orange flashing beacons must be activated: 1) on vehicles performing the construction, repair, maintenance or cleaning of roads, or the loading and transportation of faulty, damaged and other vehicles; 2) on vehicles transporting oversized loads whose dimensions exceed the limits specified in point 163 of the Rules, and on vehicles escorting them; 3) on vehicles transporting dangerous goods or containers that have not been decontaminated, and on vehicles escorting them.
34. Drivers of the vehicles specified in subpoint 1 of point 33 of the Rules, displaying yellow or orange flashing beacons, while ensuring traffic safety, may not comply with the requirements of points 42, 55—60, 63 and 116 of the Rules, of the road markings and of the road signs—with the exception of the following road signs: 2.2 "End of main road", 2.4 "Give way", 2.5 “No entry without stopping”, 2.6 "Priority of oncoming traffic", 3.11 "Weight limit", 3.12 "Axle load limit", 3.13 "Height limit", 3.14 "Width limit", 3.17.2 "Hazard", 3.20 "No overtaking". Drivers of the vehicles specified in subpoint 2 of point 33 of the Rules, displaying yellow or orange flashing beacons, while ensuring traffic safety, may not comply with the requirements of point 60 of the Rules and of the road markings.
35. Drivers of vehicles equipped with lunar-white flashing beacons may activate them, together with the special audible signal, only if those vehicles are attacked. These beacons do not confer priority and serve only to attract the attention of police officers and other persons.
