List of Steering System Malfunctions and Conditions

Vehicle operation is prohibited if:

1) the total steering play exceeds the following values:

a. 10 degrees—for passenger cars and for trucks and buses built on their chassis;
b. 20 degrees—for buses;
c. 25 degrees—for trucks;

2) parts or assemblies move in a manner not provided for by the design, threaded connections are not tightened or secured as prescribed, or the steering-column position-locking device is defective;

3) the power steering system or motorcycle steering damper provided for by the design is defective or missing;

4) the steering system has a right-hand-drive configuration.
